#Pyramids and #cones are known as tampered solids. They have a flat base and come to a point called an apex. Tapered solids do not have a uniform cross-section. For example the perpendicular cross-section of a cone is always a circle, but its radius decreases as we move up the cone. Since the #volume of a solid with uniform cross-section is V = area of base x height. Then the volume of a tapered solid is V = 1/3 x area of base x height.
